In this episode of The Quo-Cast, Jamie Dyer gives his thoughts on the first episode of the Rossi / Young in Conversation series, which recently landed on YouTube. The first clip, which came in at just under 2 minutes, concentrated on the songwriters’ memories of writing Shy Fly, a song originally featured on the Ma Kelly’s Greasy Spoon album.
Jamie’s Written Thoughts
After I initially heard about this project, I found myself looking back to what it was like being a fan of Status Quo in previous times. Interviews on mainstream television would be aimed at a wide audience, so the questions wouldn’t dig too deep. The only chance, for me at least, was via excellent documentaries such as The Party Ain’t Over Yet or Hello Quo. These dug a little deeper, and we relished the chance but they were rare. Now with YouTube and social media, there are even more opportunities to direct straight at the fans. I loved the first episode of this series, despite its length, because it focused on a rarely discussed song that I (as a fan) have often been curious about. I look forward to seeing where it goes next.
